Shout out to my Arabic teacher that looked at us yesterday mid-lesson and said, “I’m worried. You all look exhausted and depressed.”

Of we were all like, “Oh yeah we’re dead inside, you haven’t noticed?”

And he snapped shut the textbook, threw up his hands and said, “That’s not healthy! No more vocab! Time for dancing!”

And he taught us a dance from Iraq and we danced instead of doing vocab. We didn’t stop dancing until he saw all of us laughing and was satisfied that we were all feeling better. It was perhaps the coolest, most kind-hearted thing I’ve ever seen a college instructor do.

For midterms,

I look through all of my notes as a quick review while highlighting key points,

then take any available practice questions (this quarter my bf is helping with making questions for me),

then look through the notes again thoroughly, focusing on the highlighted parts, and write down anything I’m still not 100% understood/memorized on post-it notes

and finally i’ll study from the post-it notes as last minute cramming.

Ideally, I’d finish this the night before the exam, so I can remember better after a full night rest, and be able to do a quick review of the post-it notes the next day until the exam.

In my experience, this works much better for classes like physiology that is information heavy.

For this midterm and my other two previous exams, going through the lectures with my bf and explaining everything to him (so he can make accurate questions for me) really REALLY helped with solidifying the information. I’m surprised at how little stress I’ve been experiencing even though this is my third exam this quarter.

For you people who still believe that dairy is bad for you, read this

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4703621/

Here’s a little screenshot because you probably won’t read the whole thing

OA is osteoarthritis and RA is rheumatoid arthritis

Here is the study saying that dairy is not pro inflammatory

https://www.nature.com/articles/ejcn2011134

and here is the one that says you should probably lay off the low calorie beef jerky or hot dogs or whatever processed meat you’re eating (the one I was talking about in my earlier post) I personally don’t eat red meat that often for this very reason.

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanonc/article/PIIS1470-2045(15)00444-1/fulltext

So please don’t listen to anyone, read and make your own decision.

This is for people who cut out dairy for “health” reasons, not the ones who cut it out for ethical reasons, I completely understand and respect that, I’m not telling you that you MUST eat it I just want to correct the very common misconception of “dairy is like sooo bad for you” from a medical, evidence based of course point of view.

To each their own.

It feels very rewarding to go to the bulk store with a bunch of mason jars and fill them up! I’m saving money and waste just by doing this simple thing. Food in mason jars looks way better than a bunch of boxes and bags in my shelf anyways.
